Dear Friends and Colleagues ,
WOW! Where do I begin? If I were a jar of coins, I would certainly be full!.....A lot of change!! A year ago we were discussing building codes and regulations required to open the doors of the clubhouse. Armed with paint brushes and trowels, members worked diligently to make their vision of the clubhouse a reality. With the generous support of Jim Lester and the West Foundation who contributed 75,752.00, we were able to complete renovations and open the doors on September 22, 2008. During this work effort period, we joined the Wisconsin Clubhouse Coalition, who endearingly refers to us as “the baby clubhouse”. In May of 2008, eight members participated in the WCC Camp Retreat. This was a valuable learning experience for clubhouse operations as well as a great opportunity for members to develop friendships with members from other clubhouses. We continue to attend quarterly meetings and anticipate this years camp adventure. Since opening, we have established our Culinary, Business and Membership Services Units. Each of these units supports the development of good work ethics and valuable daily living skills. Equally important, it promotes relationships as people work side by side to maintain the operations of the Clubhouse and prepares those interested in in transitional employment opportunities. . The donation of a van (also made by Jim Lester) has supported members with transportation to medical and mental health treatment as well as shopping for culinary and office supplies. As we grow, we maintain the objective of becoming a Certified Clubhouse through the International Center for Clubhouse Development (ICCD) by following the “standards” through work-ordered day operations. Painting Pathways is proud of it’s accomplishments thus far. We are looking ahead with great anticipation for continued growth within the clubhouse and ongoing strong support from the community. Thank you for being part of the Painting Pathways Clubhouse mission !!! Sincerely, June Schultz |
