What is Painting Pathways Clubhouse?

Painting Pathways Clubhouse is a community of adults diagnosed with mental illness who give support to each other as they work together to rebuild their confidence, stamina, concentration, social and vocational skills. Painting Pathways Clubhouse is designed to empower and support its members within a psychosocial rehabilitation framework.

A clubhouse:

  • is a restorative environment for people who have had their lives drastically disrupted by mental illness.
  • has members who believe that recovery from mental illness is possible for all.
  • involves the individual in a community that offers respect, hope and opportunities for personal development.

  • The Painting Pathways Clubhouse relies on its members' talents, skills, and strengths in order to operate and grow.
  • Every member has a contribution to make.
  • With this powerful member foundation, the Painting Pathways Clubhouse provides opportunities and experiences for people with mental illness to develop the skills and confidence necessary to live satisfying and productive lives in the community.

Member Testimonials

"Having struggled with mental illness for many years of my life, Painting Pathways Clubhouse has had a major impact on my life. Painting Pathways is here to provide support, rehabilitation, and above all, recovery. To know that I am on the road to gain employment, live in my own apartment and gain my life back makes me feel whole again." (e-03/08)

"I came to the Clubhouse to do things that I haven't done in a long time. I need to get back into society and back to work so that I can feel worth while." (b-03/08)

"Being a part of the Clubhouse has given my life more purpose and a new direction to where I see myself going. Instead of only thinking of myself and my problems, I, for the first time in a long time, am focused on the future." (l-03/08)

"I was alone. I thought no one cared if I lived or died. Being a part of the Clubhouse made me aware that people actually do care about me. I look forward to the days when there is an activity, even if it is only cleaning (it is something to do and help out). It is also interesting to hear other people's adventures in life and how they handle it. No one has spoken to me in a critical manner and I appreciate that" (l-03/08).
